Note to Nancy...It Will Stimulate Something Other Than The Economy

Thank goodness God gave us Nancy Pelosi. Who else would actually defend the setup with George Stephanopoulis on how contraceptive would stimulate the economy! Could she not just acknowledge he was making a "funny" and say, "Oh, it will stimulate more than the economy!" But NOOOOO....she had to take the question seriously and defend the ridiculous notion that contraception would stimulate the economy because the states spend so much in children's healthcare! What the ...????? So, if people don't have kids, and just boink each other's brains out without the worry of having children, the state will be free to spend all that extra money on other things, other than children's healthcare? And this is a good thing? Putting all those crib manufacturers and baby clothing stores out of business? Hmmmmm....

That's like saying electroshock therapy stimulates the mind. Maybe every Democrat supporting this stimulus package should join you and get a dose. Bring Barney Fife Frank with you, Nancy. You both are delusional.

How to be an Adult in America

Let me say that, while I didn't vote for Obama, I fully support him as my president. I pray for him and I hope others do as well. He has a tough job ahead of him and I believe the content of his character is the reason he was chosen to be president, NOT because he is African American. This was the first election in recent memory where the choice of candidates was based on who was the best of the best, not the lesser of two evils. For once, I believe I would have been happy with either candidate.

But can I please say, for the record, I haven't been prejudiced against race since I was six years old and my mother washed my mouth out with soap for calling a black classmate "nigger". Believe it or not, that was the most impressive bit of discipline my mother ever executed. It stayed with me and it stayed with me for life. Not because the word is so offensive, but because my parents drilled it into my head that a person's race has NOTHING to do with the quality of their character. My parents instilled in us the concept that our status as Children of God transcend race. Race had nothing to do with my choice for president...ever.

The Declaration of Independance states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." This document was originally cited to argue that people of color, any color, were entitled to freedom. Now, it does not state that all men are born equal, they are created equal. Can I please get an AMEN? Therefore, if you are born into poverty or wealth, you are still equal, because you were created the same way, in the same family of humanity. It does not matter if you were born in another culture or country. It only matters that you were created equal.

Having said all that, can we please acknowledge this fact? If we use this to justify the emancipation of one group, we must be willing to use this argument to emancipate ALL groups who are oppressed in our country. Yes, this means the unborn human beings who are already created. Let's forget the argument that the Constitution protects the 'right to privacy'. (That argument was used for the right to have slaves too. ) Even though the 'created equal' statement wasn't written into the Constitution, the DOI clearly demonstrates the overall attitude of the Founding Fathers who wrote both documents. This was how Lincoln understood the Constitution as well, and it clearly fueled his belief in the abolition of slavery.

This was why I was encouraged by the Inaugural Address given by Obama. He encouraged the concept of choosing to nurture a child. I don't believe he meant making a choice to conceive, but to decide to carry a baby to term, rather than abort. Maybe I'm off base on this one, but I would like to think he is encouraging the positive, rather than the negative. After all, there is an affinity with his wife's ancestors and the unborn. Both were perceived as property, rather than human beings. As politically incorrect as it may be to equate the two groups, the ugly truth is simply that. Unborn life is perceived as the property of the mother's body, rather than the reality of its created dignity. I believe Barack Obama understands this, and is too genuine to pander to the lie.

Mark my words...you will see his respect for life surface again. And when it does, I will tell you, "I told you so."

Inaugural advice: Sit on the sides

Ever notice that Barack Obama, when giving a speech or any kind of address, seems to shift his view from left, to right, to left again? He doesn't seem to look down the center of a group much at all.

Okay, maybe have too much time on my hands, (yeah, right...a mom of 8 with ANY time on her hands! I have a dream!) I evaluated his nomination address at the DNC and discovered he averaged a look to the center only once every five times, and the length of time was for 2 seconds out of every 10. Last I checked, the center was where the cameras were.

So, do you think this could be a prophesy of his future term in office? Why am I the only one who has gotten this anal about watching him?

Oh yeah...I'm a mom. We usually watch our kids reactions and make sure they look at us when we speak . Is it just me, or do other people find this disturbing as well? I suppose we'll have the next four years to know for sure, but it is annoying. Granted, it's not as annoying as Michelle Obama's habitual roll of the eyes, which is chronically sophmoric. Could the Obama handlers please read something on body language and get back to me? I mean, pa-leeeeeeez!

American Economy: Do the Math, Stupid!

To all the politicians out there who have a theory how to fix the economy, it is really very simple. Do the Math.

Our economy is dependant on a certain amount of indulgent spending.
Whether it is in a new car, new clothes or a new house, all businesses that depend on other business success go back to the middle classes spending money. I am SO SICK of people saying the American People just need to regain their consumer confidence! It is really simple, if you do the math.

Ok, so if the annual income in most homes is $50,233, that means they have a total of $4186 per month before taxes.

According to the National Association of Realtors, thttp://www.realtor.org/Research.nsf/files/MSAPRICESF.pdf/$FILE/MSAPRICESF.pdf the median price of a home for the year 2007 averaged $217,800. Now, if Mr. Banker sells you an ARM that has an introductory rate of 4.5, as Wachovia Mortgage did to me, the monthly payment would be (with taxes and insurances) 1332.72. That would be a little less than 30% of a monthly pre-tax income. NOW, increase the interest rate to 8.3 % (as Wachovia did to me and LOT of other ARM mortgage holders who bought into the 'index' versus 'prime rate' product) and your monthly payment goes up to $1873.08. Now, you figure 28% income tax and another 6% payroll tax (kind, I know) and the average family disposible income goes from 4186 to 3010 for the taxes and down another 251 for Social Security. It looks like this

Now, if you deduct the original 1332.72 (teaser rate offered by Wachovia Bank), you have $1427 to work with to pay for food, clothes, car, gas, insurance and utilities. Change that amount to $1873, and you only have $886 per month to pay for all of the above.
Now, when you consider the average $20,000 car payment, spread over 5 years, is $405 per month, you only have about $485 to pay for all the other stuff.
If you then factor the sudden increase of gas to $4 per gallon, credit card payments for things like furniture, and basic food and utility cost increases in response to the increased cost in transport, is there any wonder why people had to walk away from their homes, or that they couldn't buy a new car that year?
Is every politician a moron? Do the math. It is pretty simple. The last thing we need is increased taxes to pay for a multitrillion dollar "stimulus" package that does squat.
Or, in other words, bancrupcy court, here we come!
